Ylang Ylang Therapeutic Grade™ Essential Oil
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil (Cananga odorata) has a sweet, soft, flowery fragrance that has made it a romantic favorite. In Indonesia, the petals are often strewn across a marriage bed. Ylang ylang is extremely effective in calming and bringing about a sense of relaxation, and it may help with releasing feelings of anger, tension, and nervous irritability. It has a long history in skin and hair care products, particularly in Asia, where it is used to promote luxuriant hair. Ylang Ylang has an approximate ORAC of 1,300,478 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.
How to use: For dietary or topical use. When using as a supplement, dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid such as soy or rice milk. Possible skin sensitivity. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician. Dilution not required; suitable for all but the most sensitive skin. Generally safe for children over 2 years of age.
"Ylang ylang means 'flower of flowers' and was named such because the tree has beautiful, fragrant flowers, from which a powerful essential oil is steam distilled.
The oil is used in hair formulas, to balance female-male energies, to restore peace and positive thoughts, and as an aphrodisiac. It is also used for supporting normal blood pressures, easing minor motion sickness, and contains a host of other health-enhancing properties.
Ylang ylang originates from Madagascar and is being grown on the Young Living farm in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In the Young Living ylang ylang groves, it's harvest time again, although the main production time for ylang ylang runs from February to May. Just as the monsoon rains start to end, the trees load up with water from the rain and put on flowers. The flowers then become very heavily laden with the water, which increases the glucose, or what we call the Brix, in the flower; and that all converts to essential oil, which is very exciting.
Ylang Ylang is not only a wonderful fragrance oil but an extremly theraputic oil as well. Ylang Ylang contains aldehyde ketones, which are very fragrant; phenol and phenol ethers, which are receptor site cleansers; and 33 to 38% sesquiterpenes, which modulate the pituitary and increase oxygen uptake. However, there are other compounds... such as indole that mature when the flower is ready to pick. Indole is very interesting in the fact that it works as the plant's signaling device. Instead of prostaglandins, plants have jasmonate, and instead of steroid hormones, they have brassinsteroids. Indole and brassinalide resemble seratonin and estradiol and signal the estrodiol receptors; this signaling is one of the reasons Ylang Ylang is considered an aphrodisiac. Because of the calming effect of esters and aldehydes and the seratonin signaling effect, Ylang Ylang is extremly good for high blood pressure and preventing tachycardia. Try putting 2 to 4 drops of Ylang Ylang with your Sclaressence." ~ Gary Young

Don't expect the same results unless you are using Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ Essential Oils and supplements. Also each person is unique and different in chemistry and toxicity levels, as well as emotionally and spiritually, so an oil that is suggested for an issue may not work as well as another. If a change is not apparent within three minutes, try another oil.
